It was an amazing adventure. India is a full-out assault on the senses: sights, sounds, tastes, scents, you name it. The people are absolutely amazing; the landscapes diverse, raw, stark, lush and opulent. The entire country seems as if it’s teetering on the brink between its 4000 year secular history and the glass and steel modern world. It seems utterly improbable that the place exists and functions at all. But it does, and functions remarkably well. We loved it, and if it wasn’t for the kids, I think we’d still be there. And now we’re saving our pennies again to go back.
The photo above is of Jenn and I at sunset in Hampi, where we had just been blessed by an elephant as part of Puja, a Hindu worship ritual.
